Overall, things are going pretty well here with our new addition to the family: Rosie is a fabulous nurser, Lucy continues to enjoy hugging and kissing her, and everyone has been eating regular meals. We’ve even caught up with our laundry (quite a feat between Jon’s week out of town before delivery, our hospital stay, and a backlog even before Lucy had her bout with the “stomach virus”:/news/2008/help-for-barfy-barney/). But of course, successes don’t preclude a few crying jags here and there on the part of Mama. Continue reading “Mood swinging”
Rosie’s Labor: The Cliffs Notes
I intend to write up a detailed account of Rosie’s Labor Story at some point, just as “I did with Lucy’s”:/news/2007/the-labor-story. But until then, I thought it might be worthwhile to note a few of the highlights. Continue reading “Rosie’s Labor: The Cliffs Notes”
Help for barfy Barney
A quick note here: it’s 2am and Lucy has thrown up in her crib four times in the past two hours. Jon is out of town. I’m hanging in there, but need some advice about stuffed animal care. Continue reading “Help for barfy Barney”
Belly baby notes: March 6, 2008
The big news in Belly-Baby-Land is that today marks 37 weeks of pregnancy. So, I’m officially full-term. If the baby came today, we would say, “Come on out!” Continue reading “Belly baby notes: March 6, 2008”
Lucy watch: March 1, 2008
The other night I had a good cry while I told Jon about how I’m going to really miss these predictable days of routine with Lucy. Continue reading “Lucy watch: March 1, 2008”
Progress report
Back in early February, I posted a list of the “projects”:/news/2008/belly-baby-notes-february-1-2008/ I was planning to work on before the baby arrives. As my belly grows, my energy is not quite what it once was, but I’m pleased that we are making significant progress on the list! Continue reading “Progress report”
Packing
Admittedly, I have a tendency to overpack. I just like to be prepared for a variety of circumstances. This is especially true when I think about going to the hospital to give birth. Continue reading “Packing”
Post-partum cravings
I’ve been composing a mental list of all the things I plan to eat once Belly Baby emerges. It’s getting so long I thought I should write it down somewhere so I don’t forget anything! Continue reading “Post-partum cravings”
Jam thumbprint cookies
Today was so cold in Chicago that Lucy and I decided to warm up the kitchen by baking a special treat. In the process, we discovered her favorite cookie yet! Continue reading “Jam thumbprint cookies”
Sick days
We’ve had a few sick days over here at Boyds’ Nest. Lucy came down with some kind of stomach bug on Friday morning, just after we had a half-foot of snow fall on Chicago. But we didn’t suffer too badly — and who wants to leave the house in that weather anyway? Continue reading “Sick days”
