Sister hats

While we’ve been waiting for Rosie to arrive, Ann knit a pair of hats for the “two sisters”:/news/2008/two-sisters/: one light pink with a dark stripe (for Rosie) and the other in dark pink with a light stripe (for Lucy). We’ve been eagerly waiting the opportunity for them to try them on!

Here’s the video of their first meeting (a 22.5 MB download, running 3’02” — long but worth it, in our opinion):

Note that, as I observe on the audio track, this is the first time we heard Lucy use the possessive case (saying “Lucy’s nose,” instead of “nose Lucy”). Is this perhaps exactly how we learn our possessives, by getting a new sibling? ;)

  1. Ohhhhh…. Such a priceless and precious memory you caught on tape. Thanks for sharing that. My mom is here visiting and we both just oooo’ed and ahhhh’ed over (of course) precious new Rosie as well as Lucy’s attentiveness and care and Ann’s beauty! We are so happy for you all!

  2. Ahh thats a tear jerker! How sweet! Yes they seem to quickly learn possessive’s once there is someone around they may need to share with! Mo’s favorite new word “MINE”

    You have a beautiful family!

  3. Congratulations!! She is soo beautiful. Lucy is such a great big sister!!! (I loved the hug she gave at the end).

  4. I blubbed! How exciting – you are all so terrific! She’s gorgeous! I chortled reading about the night before Rosie’s arrival because it is IDENTICAL to what we went through with Gabe the night before Mal came… perhaps there is a little older sibling premonition? The though of the new arrival either makes them sick… or, as I like to think, they get overly excited. hahaha! Either way – tough to deal with when you are also looking forward to baby coming and stealing your rest! Think of you often. (Looks like boy #3 for us).
