Rosie’s baptism

Today Rosie was baptized as Christians have been doing for two millennia, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Slightly newer traditions dictated that we take photos and eat sheet cake.

Thanks to our friend “Adrian Perez Franco”:http://adrianperezfranco.com/ for shooting great photos during the ceremony, including the first four here.

Lucy was as excited as any of us about being so close to the baptismal font with Rosie and Pastor Mandy Olson.

Pastor Mandy had preached a sermon about acts of faith that both express and form our identity. It was a great teaching on sacraments to inform this ceremony. (It was her first baptism as our pastor at “Grace Evangelical Covenant Church”:http://gracechurchchicago.org/.)

Our other new pastor, Ryan Johnson, prayed over Rosie after the baptism, with us all gathered around, including the fabulous godparents, “Kriss and Shannon Marion”:http://circlemfarm.com/.

Pastor Mandy presented Rosie to the congregation, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves thoroughly. We were honored to have so many family and friends in attendance. (Here you can see Andy, Jane, and “Ramona”:http://ramonamae.com/ in the back.)

One of the highlights of the day was that Mama, Big Sister, and the Baptized were all wearing matching dresses, courtesy of Grammie Boyd (and “Hanna Andersson”:http://hannaandersson.com/). Aren’t they charming?
