Impulse buys

It’s good to be in the second trimester, especially now that I look around and see some of the crazy food I bought in an effort to find something I wanted to eat. Not that there is anything wrong with these foods — it is just an unusual collection of things we are trying to finish up, “so it’ll be a nice day tomorrow” (as Grandma Boyd says).

* frozen waffles
* frozen french toast
* frozen potato pancakes
* popsicles
* ten cans of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup
* 48 juice boxes
* two cans of cut green beans
* Club crackers
* grapefruit soda
* ginger ale (the non-diet kind)
* ginger tea
* ginger chews
* sparkling pink lemonade
* generic rice krispies
* Preggie Pop Drops
* one “turkey medallions” frozen dinner
* one bag of Skittles, partially eaten

And we aren’t even going to get into the bag of grapefruit I bought which sat on the counter for weeks until it started to crawl away…

  1. This is so funny. When I was pregnant with Ben, I ate like 2 regular-sized jars of pickles in a week, so Chris went industrial on me and got a jar of pickles that barely fit in the fridge. Turns out, as soon as he bought them, my pickle craving left and they sat in the fridge for the next year or so, untouched.

    Our grocery bill goes up about 20% when I’m pregnant!

  2. Well, I mean, a hey, babe, get up in the middle of the night and get my marguerita now or else kind of thing. A Raising Arizona don’t you come back til you have my marguerita kind of thing.

  3. I’ m think’in does anyone ever really receive that get up in the middle of the night (enter pregnancy craving)? Or does that only happen in the movies?

    Maybe I just did not use my best OR ELSE face. But I dont recall Andy running out to get Fre ( an alcohol free wine,) cottage cheese, bagels or anything else in the middle of the night. And I never got Chinese food.

  4. Ann made me go out to get her a baked potato at 11:00 PM one night. And with glad heart and smiling face did I discharge my duty. (Or something like that.)
