First tooth

Lucy’s first tooth arrived this week, right on Valentine’s Day. We feel that must be significant in some way. Perhaps it is a love note from the Tooth Fairy?

We had been wondering why Lucy burst out crying hysterically in her crib the night before — very unlike her these days. In the morning, Mama took a shower while Lucy hung out in the bouncy seat. We are amazed (and pleased) that Lucy still tolerates the morning bouncy-seat routine. Of course, she does get a bit bored sometimes, which she displayed this day by eating some of the stash of extra toilet paper we keep in the bathroom. (Frankly, it is much cleaner that a lot of other things that have been finding their way through her lips these days). Upon discovering the TP-consumption, Mama promptly dug into Lucy’s mouth to remove the offending paper — and, what do you know? There was a tooth! Papa was shoveling snow outside at the time, but Mama quickly dressed and filled him in on the good news.

Lucy’s tooth is just a little sliver of a thing, but it’s nice and sharp. She keeps feeling it with her tongue, which is cute. Why do we feel suddenly compelled to feed her meat now? This afternoon, we’re pretty sure we feel a second tooth (right next the first) pushing its way up. Looks like she’ll have two of a kind soon enough!

The judges are pleased to officially announce the winner of the “First Tooth contest”:/news/2006/contest-lucys-first-tooth/: Deborah! Her guess was January 17 — a full month early, but her guess was the closest! Fabulous prizes await her.

Grandpa B – Maddy LOVES popcorn. you just have to remove all kernal as it is one of the leading causes of choking. But what a tasty treat!
