Lucy turned nine-months old last Thursday. We are still relishing our not-yet-baby-proofed house while we wait for Lucy’s crawling to kick in full-force. But then again, Mama might just be in denial, considering that she had to extract a paper grocery bag from Lucy’s mouth the other day. Continue reading “The Lucy Files: January 30”
Heart felt
Lucy surprised us the other night by sleeping soundly — and not making a peep! — from about 7:00 pm all through the night till we woke up to the silence around 5:00 am. Was she still breathing? Continue reading “Heart felt”
New info on car seats
You BNN regulars may be interested to read this “article”:http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/business/AP-Infant-Seats.html in the _New York Times_ saying that _Consumer Reports_ is revising their recent — and strongly negative — report about car seats. (Several of us were discussing this on a recent “post”:/news/2007/tough-cookie/.) Here’s to safe driving!
The groundhog
I read this inspiring story in “_Family Fun_ magazine’s”:http://familyfun.go.com/ February 2007 issue about a family who developed a no-shame way to give second chances. Continue reading “The groundhog”
The Lucy Files: January 12
Lately, my favorite thing to do with Lucy is sing with her. She starts with one of “her "ahhhh" sounds”:/news/2006/poo-poo-head-alert/ and I do my best to match her pitch and timbre. I’m getting pretty good at it, and it makes Lucy laugh occasionally. But this is just one of the many fun things going on with The Lu these days. Continue reading “The Lucy Files: January 12”
Tough cookie
Lucy went to see Dr. Minkus today for her eight-month checkup (a little late, since she turned eight-months on Christmas Day). I wasn’t looking forward to it, knowing that Lucy would get more shots today. It is just so hard to watch them stick the needle in, wait out the pause, and hear that cry of pain. But Lucy surprised us today. Continue reading “Tough cookie”
Moral dilemma
Lucy and I had a successful shopping experience at Target today. That is, until I discovered that I walked out of the store without paying for my gallon of milk. Continue reading “Moral dilemma”
Mama, Baby attempt fun
Papa is currently working hard at the InterVarsity “conference”:http://www.urbana.org/ he is at right now. We always miss Papa when he is away, but Lucy and I are doing our best to make lemonade out of our lemons and have some fun. Continue reading “Mama, Baby attempt fun”
O Santa, why so troubling?
After spending a few weeks watching movies about Santa (like “_Elf_”:http://imdb.com/title/tt0319343/ and “_Miracle on 34th Street_”:http://imdb.com/title/tt0039628/) — movies where the good guys are the ones who really believe — I am feeling the weight of this question more. Do we believe, or don’t we? And what do we tell Lucy? Continue reading “O Santa, why so troubling?”
Fudgy Mexican brownies
The Boyd Clan gathered here at St Lou today for a feast of Jon’s famous chili, homemade cornbread, and these fabulously fudgy Mexican brownies I adapted from a no-fail Martha Stewart recipe. Continue reading “Fudgy Mexican brownies”
