Pregnant memories

It is hard to believe that I was still pregnant less than two months ago — it feels like it has been much longer! I was just thinking the other day about things that I remember from being 9+ months pregnant. Here is a quick list:

I remember…

* feeling Lucy kicking, wiggling, and doing yoga in my belly all day long
* worrying if I wasn’t feeling Lucy kicking, wiggling, or doing yoga
* trying really hard never to reveal the secret of Lucy’s name
* experiencing heartburn, especially at night
* having a slightly bloody nose most of the time
* needing to pee very, very often
* not being able to sleep on my back
* counting down the days until Lucy’s due date
* counting up the days after Lucy’s due date
* going for long walks trying to bring on labor
* waking up every morning and wondering, “Will today be Lucy’s birthday?”
* reading everything I could find about bringing on labor
* hoping my Braxton-Hicks contractions would turn into something more productive
* not wanting to drive anywhere very far for fear that I would suddenly go into labor
* having difficulty tying my own shoes
* having difficulty getting in and out of the car
* taking pictures of my belly every week

* moisturizing my belly every day after getting out of the shower
* having only a few shirts that would really fit over my belly
* Jon calling to Lucy several times each day, “Come out! Come out, Lucy!”

I really enjoyed being pregnant, but it was pretty emotionally exhausting during those last few weeks. I’m glad Lucy is out-and-about now, and I think she is glad too. It sure seems that way when she smiles at us!

  1. That is funny! I didn’t even notice that before. Maybe I was worried that smiling big would make my cheeks look chubby? Or I was just plain getting grumpier…
