Last time we were this quiet at Boyds’ Nest News, we were in the early stages of pregnancy with Rosie. And that’s kind of how things are now, again. But these days we aren’t growing a new human baby, and Mama isn’t the one pushing.
Meet the new baby in the house: “Following Christ 2008”:http://followingchrist.org is a conference for graduate students, faculty, and professionals, hosted by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship — and directed by Jon Boyd. This event is coming up quite soon — just days after Christmas — so Jon is definitely in his third trimester on this one! The conference has been Jon’s full-time job for a couple years (with many others involved, too), and we are expecting around 1,000 people.

Amazing speakers like N. T. Wright, Francis Collins, Carmen Butcher, and Andy Crouch will be appearing. And it will be really exciting to meet all the delegates and participate in God’s work at the conference. I am excited about working at the “Day Ahead event”:http://www.intervarsity.org/gfm/well/resource/finding-space-for-god sponsored by Women in the Academy & Professions. But as you can imagine, Jon is pretty busy working on all the final details — and Ann is busy taking care of the babies! This is all making for infrequent BNN posts, so thanks for being patient with us.
And we’d be remiss if we didn’t invite *you* to consider attending Following Christ 2008. Are you a medical professional? or a grad student? or a businessperson? or an artist? or a faculty member? It’s a surprisingly widely held misconception that this is a “grad conference” only, or that it’s only for people in InterVarsity groups. Not so! This conference is for grad students, faculty, and professionals — and that covers a whole lot of people, and a whole lot of you! We’d love to have you join us this December. Please consider it!
I pray the endeavor goes well! What an exciting thing for both of you. I think it’s great that Jon is taking the lead on something so amazing!
So Jon, are you going all natural? Or a bit of an IV drip to help the pain?
:-P
100% natural, baby! Well, maybe just a little Laphroig to smooth things out… :)
