Pick your favorites!

Hey, kids! One year ago today, we published the very first Daily Lucy (“Sun Bonnet”:/news/2006/sun-bonnet/) — and to commemorate the occasion, we want to take your votes for *The Very Best Daily Lucy So Far.* And just for fun, we’ll make it possible for _you_ to win something, too.

Pick your favorites!

Here’s how it works:

# Study the “Daily Lucy visual archive”:/news/category/the-daily-lucy/ to refresh your memory (or find gems you missed the first time around).
# Post a comment below with the title (and ideally, the URL) of your favorite. (Please: only one favorite per contestant! We all know it’s impossible, so no whining.) If someone else mentions your own favorite first, that’s OK: feel free to jump on a bandwagon.
# Bonus round: also include a word or two about _why_ you like that particular Daily Lucy the best.

After several days, we the judges will select a set of winners based on whatever criteria tickle our fancy at the moment. (For instance, funniest explanation, most touching tribute to Lucy’s beauty, strangest pick, etc.) Your prize? A glossy print of your chosen Daily Lucy autographed by Miss Lucy herself, of course!

We’ll also compile all the results of your voting and put together a special “behind-the-scenes” featurette about the top vote-getters, complete with outtakes and amusing anecdotes from the cast.

Thanks for helping us celebrate one year of Daily Lucys — and never fear, there are plenty more where these came from!

  1. I like the photo that’s up. Here’s my comment/caption: “Little Lu looks just like Papa when he picks his nose!”

  2. Ha ha ha. Everybody’s so funny today.

Uncle Jim: Note that this photo was taken in a mirror, so Lucy _is_ using her right hand.

  3. A “Wink”:/news/2006/wink/ and a Smile

Why this one? I liked it back in October when it was posted and I still do. There have been so many wonderful pictures that you have shared with us over the past year….But there is something classic about this….I love that Ann and Lucy match….Ann looks so relaxed and filled with joy in her motherhood. Lucy’s little grin….I never thought that I would like babies in black, but I think it is adorable….(particularly on Naomi) but Lucy is definitely a close second.

And a reason I have loved The Daily Lucy….is not only all of the beautiful pictures of your daughter, and the little snapshots of your family life, but all of the precious words of love that Grandpa Boyd sends his way.

Thanks for sharing you family with us.

  4. !http://www.intervarsity.org/mx/images/errorCryBaby.jpg!

This has to be my favorite…although I’m not sure if it qualifies as a Daily Lucy.

[Editor’s Note: Nathan likes that one so much that he used it to illustrate error messages at a cool site he and his team developed, InterVarsity’s “Ministry Exchange”:http://www.intervarsity.org/mx/. And yes, indeed, it was originally a Daily Lucy, “Displeasure Personified”:/news/2006/displeasure-personified/.]

  5. This has been quite a challenge! I think I have to go with “Toasty”:/news/2007/toasty/. She looks so angelic with her tussled hair and flushed cheeks….

  6. I have to go with “Fresh Baby”:/news/2006/fresh-baby/.

It’s just such a sweet picture of Lucy all brand-new. I think there is nothing like looking at a brand new baby and seeing Lucy in this picture makes me think of mine when they were that small and new.

  7. Although they are all devastatingly cute! I’m gonna have to say that my favorite would have to be….drumroll please! “Ostrich Impression”:/news/2007/ostrich-impression/. My reasons for this: 1. this is TOTALLY something I would have done when I was younger! 2. It’s adorable..and as pretty as she is, she really does look like and ostrich, she’s got the eyes and neck down perfect! And 3. It’s black and white…and, you just can’t beat a black and white photo!

    Formerly, Emmalina. Now, Ostrich Lover!

  8. My favorite Daily Lucy is easily “Friends”:/news/2006/friends-2/ from Nov. 21, 2006.

Not only does Lucy look adorable as she gazes attentively at the camera, but going along with the “Friends” theme, she is being held by MY best friend — the most amazing, beautiful, and intelligent woman I know. Nothing makes my day quite like seeing a smile on Allie’s face, and no one puts a smile on her face and brings her joy like Lucy, as you can see in the photo. Thanks Lucy!

  9. There is no way I could select a single picture so I nominate the full selection of The Daily Lucy. These photographs capture the beginning of a new life, the nurturing of a precious life, and reflection of all the love that surrounds that new life. Sensitive. Generous. Loving. Creative. What a gift it has been to Grandma Boyd and me. As if Lucia and Ann and Jon have not been enough, The Daily Lucy has also allowed us to share the ideas, concerns, and love of your circle of friends during this daily meeting. What a wonderful gift you have given to all of us.

  10. I love “Happy Birthday, Uncle Jim!”:/news/2006/happy-birthday-uncle-jim/

Not only is there a precious photo of Jon and Lucy, but Lucy is wearing my favorite outfit. Whenever I see pics of her in that outfit, I think back to when Kaia fit that outfit. Now that she’s almost 4, it is so hard to imagine her that small, and seeing Lucy wearing it always brings back fond memories and makes me smile!

[Editor’s Note: And there are a lot of photos of Lucy in that outfit for Tysa to like! See the earlier post “A little bigger”:/news/2006/a-little-bigger/, which includes a partial list of links to Daily Lucys shot in that Tommy Hilfiger suit. (One we forgot there was the legendary “Footlong drool”:/news/2006/footlong-drool/.) We loved that outfit too, while it still fit her! Thanks, Tysa!]

  11. Well Jon,
It is tough to pick one, pick one, pick one because I have yet to see a single photo of Lucia wearing Union Pacific or Nebraska gear. Oooooh, do you mean the cutest picture of Lucia? I send my love anyway….

  12. Being out here in Big Red and UP country we could fill an order for such gear, if you want! Although, I must admit, we have avoided Nebraska gear for our new arrival!

My favorite has to be “What a Peach”:/news/2006/what-a-peach/. You can’t help but smile yourself!

  13. This was hard! I like so many of the pictures. I get a kick out of the color coordination and fun in “Happy Birthday, Grandma!”:http://boydsnest.org/news/2006/happy-birthday-grandma/ Lucy “in the laundry basket”:/news/2006/good-clean-fun/ is very cute, and I love looking at all the pictures of Lucy in all of the hats that her mama lovingly knit. However, since I saw her more when she was very little, I feel obligated to pick one with her super-cool newborn baby hair. She’s really got excellent hair. “Here’s Looking at You”:/news/2006/heres-looking-at-you/ is a beautiful picture and my vote for favorite Daily Lucy. :)
