Due date

Today is Baby’s due date, but she seems very content to swim around in her own little private hot tub for a little while longer. Jon and I are so eager to meet her that we can hardly stand it! I’m glad for the midwife appointment that is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Hopefully Jenny can at least give us some encouragement that things are moving in the right direction.

Here are some things we did today (in between pleading, “Baby,come out!”):
* went to “church”:http://www.gracechurchchicago.org
* roasted a pork tenderloin for a spontaneous Easter dinner with our friends, Linda and “derek”:http://satellitebooking.com — yummy yummy! Also baked some chocolate truffle cupcakes, which turned out nice and gooey on the inside, crispy on the outside. A success.
* organized my box of potential scrapbook materials: ticket stubs, photos, odds and ends I’ve been saving for about five years
* went for a long walk. This is supposed to help start labor, and I *did* have more “practice” contractions, but they stopped when I stopped walking
* wrote a book review
* cleaned the kitchen

I continue to feel comfortable and sleep well, even though I’m hugely pregnant. This is a blessing. But I worry that I’ll go so late that I’ll have to be induced, which I’d rather not have happen. I’d like to give this whole natural childbirth thing a fair try, and the induction process often makes that difficult. So, we’ll keep praying, walking, and I’ll see what the midwife says tomorrow!

  1. there are some natural ways to induce….try pumping (nipple stimulation). And if you do have to be induced, it isn’t horrible…at the end of the day you have your healthy baby and at that point that is all you really care about!

    Can’t wait for the news.

  2. We are excited ot here the news about this little one. Our Naomi Rose was born on January 29th…..her due date! Only 5% of babies are born on thier due date….so you have a while to go before they induce. The nursemidwife will give helpful suggestions I am sure.

    Blessings to you both. What an exciting time! Happy Delivery!

  3. Thanks, Katrina and Nicole, for the encouragement and tips! I had a good talk with my midwife today that was reassuring. I’m going to go post about it now. :)

    Nicole, congrats on Naomi Rose! Her name is beautiful, and how fun that she arrived on her due date!
