Hello, Papa! It’s your daughter here. Mama and I are missing you a whole lot, so I thought I’d write you a letter.

The most exciting thing today was my amazingly short naps — only 40 minutes each! I was just ready for fun, I guess. Oh, and I pooped during my second nap, so that maybe woke me up early. Mama was a little grumpy and wished I would sleep longer, but I just turned on the charm and she forgot all of her worries.
We went to Trader Joe’s today and got some yummy cheese and crackers for Mama’s New Year’s Eve picnic — she is going to miss you a lot, but is already planning a substitute New Year’s Eve date for you two. We went to Jewel, too, and saw one of our favorite checkers, LaPorsha. She is always really nice to me. And a very friendly lady let us cut in front of her in line because I was getting a little cranky (short nap and all). Just stick with me and I’ll get us some perks!
Our afternoon playdate got canceled due to sickness — man, is there an epidemic going around? Mama was a little bummed out, but then she got the great idea to whip up a batch of pie crust while I played on the floor. I don’t know why this cheered her up so much, but it did. And I must say, I am really picking up some steam with the backwards-scootching technique I’ve been working on. I can’t wait for you to see my moves! Then we walked to the Sweden Shop down the street and the library, where Mama got a “movie”:http://imdb.com/title/tt0338427/ to watch tonight (“Netflix”:http://www.netflix.com/ is a little slow these days).
By this time, I was getting really sleepy and grumpy, but it was only 4:45 and Mama wanted to keep me up until 6:00 at least. So, she fed me some banana-goo, which was slightly interesting, but only for a little while. When I’d had enough of that, she plopped me in the tub (good thing, I was sticky) and I had a lovely bath. Now it was 5:10, and Mama was wondering what to do with me for another 50 minutes. She had the great idea to try sitting with me on the couch with me wedged in, Uncle-Jim-style. That was a blast! We watched the end of “_Sabrina_”:http://imdb.com/title/tt0114319/ (the 1995 version), which I enjoyed. (By the way, Mama and I both agree that you are much better-looking than Harrison Ford.) Oh, and Mama played a new game with me where she picked me up by my feet and hung me upside-down for a few seconds — super fun! I almost busted a gut laughing.

Then, all of a sudden, I got tired and grumpy. So, Mama gave me a little snack, read me a couple of books, and put me to bed. I only fussed for a couple of minutes before I totally conked out. What a day!
All of these things were fun, but do you know what the best part of today is? You are coming home in just two days! I can’t wait to see you (and Mama says, “I can’t wait either!”). I love you so much, Papa! Sleep well tonight.
Love,
Lulu
Thanks for the letter, Lucy! It’s great to hear all about your day, and I really enjoyed these two photos, too. Mama’s pretty handy with that shutter! But I can’t wait to see you in person! (It’ll be 2007 by that time.)
I hope you’re sleeping peacefully right now and that you and Mama both have a good night. Super-love!
