Happy Birthday, Grandma Martha

Posted in Community at 10:44 pm by Jon

July 10 was my Grandma Martha Borzykowski’s birthday. She would have been 95 today, but she passed away last August. Our little Lucy got her middle name from her, and we hope she has inherited lots more, too. more »

BabyFit

Posted in Babies, Community at 11:56 am by Ann

Today, Jon suggested that I write about the other website I’ve been posting on for years: BabyFit.com. It is surprising that I haven’t thought about writing about this website, but it has become such a regular part of my life that it didn’t occur to me! more »

Still at play

Posted in Community at 12:02 pm by Jon

We had a friend over the other day who’s not quite five years old. He was interested in a couple of simple clay objects out on our livingroom table (a large ring and a chunky heart). He asked who made them, and when we said that we had, he asked in amazement — “You still have clay?”

We hope he’ll always remember that, yes, even grown-ups can goof around with the arts. :)

Want to help with meals?

Posted in Babies, Community at 9:31 am by Jon

We imagine that some of you might want to help out with meals now that Lucy has been born. (It sure is a perfect excuse to come over and meet her!) If so, please get in touch with our Field Marshall of Meals, Dora. You can reach her at dorame {at} uwalumni {dot} com. She’ll be delighted to find you a spot in the schedule. Thanks!

Mona Linda

Posted in Community at 12:40 pm by Ann

Today was the funeral for a fellow church-member, Mona. Her kids did a great job telling stories about her life and her mothering. Susan said that every time they went to the grocery store, her mom sang all the way there. Dan said that he thought theirs was the only family who regularly prayed for the current Supreme Court Justices. It made me think a lot about what kind of mother I will be — I hope to sing and pray a lot too! But funerals aren’t easy. I keep praying that Jesus will come back before too long so we can stop having funerals. Pastor Deb talked about the hope of the cross — out of death, we have hope and life and glory. It is true, but it doesn’t make life here on earth any easier when death happens.
