One of my dearest hopes as a mother is that I would be a good listener. The best way is to start now by “reading” Lucy’s cries and expressions in order to be able to meet her needs well. However, this is easier said than done. more »
So many people (including many of you) have pointed out a family resemblance in Lucy. That is quite a compliment, since we think she is quite a beauty. But frankly, I often have a hard time seeing the resemblance, especially to either Jon or myself. more »
Yesterday was one of those setbacks in our gradually smoother string of days with Lucy. She woke up demanding her first feeding at 3:10 AM (several hours earlier than usual), and then didn’t want to go back to sleep as she usually does. And it was more of the same all day long. I had pretty much decided that I was done with buying books about babies and sleep. All of the experts and their fancy ideas were giving me stress (and constantly disagreeing with one another). But, I gave in and bought one more book — this new one out by Ann Douglas. And, I must say, it was worth the money. more »
I’ve been feeling much better these days, after last week’s emotional meltdown. Yesterday, I went to see Christopher the Counselor, and he helped me to have some perspective on life, as usual. He is really good at that. more »
