I long to flail around in my crib, roll with abandon, and practice my crawling while pretending to sleep. My “cocoon”:\/news\/2006\/luv-2-b-swaddled\/ just grew a little too close; it was time for me to spread my wings and “fly”:\/news\/2006\/unstable\/. My transition to free-floating sleep has been a painless one, much to my parents’ surprise. The time was ripe, and they picked it wisely.<\/p>\n
Who knew that already by eight-and-a-half months I would have known so many bittersweet pleasures? I see my “Blue Ball”:\/news\/2006\/bouncing-baby-boyd\/ in the basement coated thinly with dust. My “kitchen-sink baths”:\/news\/2006\/ill-have-the-duck\/ are but a distant memory. And now, my “swaddles”:\/news\/2006\/happy-napper\/ — O my “swaddles”:\/news\/2006\/tongue-twister\/! Our time together was destined to end, but I’ll always remember fondly the snug sleeps of my youth. Perhaps these “cherished scraps of cloth”:\/news\/2006\/scalloped-ears\/ and I will meet again, in a quilt or knee patch? Or wrapping up a wee sibling one day? Until then, rest easy, my friends. Relax thy fibers and relish thy laundering sabbath. You have served me well, and I will never forget our months of slumbering bliss.<\/p>\n
bq.
