I&#8217;ve been reading about a Korean tradition of having a big party, called a _baek-il,_ to celebrate this special day in a baby&#8217;s life. <!--more-->However, let me confess now that everything I know about this is from the &#8220;Kimchi Mamas blog&#8221;:http:\/\/kimchimamas.typepad.com\/kimchi_mamas\/2006\/05\/korean_baby_tra_1.html.<\/p>\n<p>In years past, the one-hundred-day mark was celebrated especially because of the high rate of infant mortality &#8212; it was a miracle that the baby survived the first few months. Traditionally, it is also the first day that you let anyone outside the immediate family see the baby.<\/p>\n<p>So, perhaps we have jumped the gun by publishing &#8220;photos of Lucy&#8221;:\/news\/category\/the-daily-lucy\/ from Day 1. And we have no special party planned for her today.
