When I told Jon about it, we wondered if I shouldn&#8217;t keep a list of these somewhere so we remember them when Lucy is older. We hope our new &#8220;Free Advice&#8221;:\/news\/category\/free-advice\/ section might be useful to you, too. <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>This idea was found in a recent issue of the magazine _Family Fun_. (Not sure which issue, since I really did read this at a nail salon.)<\/p>\n<p>*Yes day.* One family found that the parents were saying &#8220;no&#8221; to their children a bit too often when their participation in various games and activities was requested. So they instituted &#8220;Yes Day&#8221;: one Saturday a month where the parents say &#8220;yes&#8221; to previously denied invitations. During the month, they write down their kids&#8217; rejected requests &#8212; such as coloring together or playing a board game &#8212; and placed them in a jar. On &#8220;Yes Day,&#8221; they sort through these ideas and pick several to do together.
