The Boyds’ movie picks of 2008

It’s Oscar night, and we don’t imagine we can steal any of the limelight from the red carpet. But we recently flipped through the movies we rented in 2008 — and we humbly offer our list of the best 10 films we watched for the first time last year.

In no particular order, other than the order we saw them in:

* _Helvetica_
* _Kitchen Stories_
* _An Inconvenient Truth_
* _Air Guitar Nation_
* _Manufactured Landscapes_
* _Juno_
* _Superbad_
* _I’m Not There_
* _Cars_

Honorable mentions to _Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music,_ and _Singing in the Rain_, which we had seen before 2008 but which became three of Lucy’s heavy-rotation favorites last year.

  1. Thanks for the recommendations! I’ve been meaning to see Juno and An Inconvenient Truth for a while, and just haven’t gotten around to it. We’ve been watching a lot more TV shows on DVD than movies. Somehow, finding 2 hours to watch a whole movie has been difficult this year. However, we’ve seen the movie Cars many, many, many times.
