Rosie’s birthday interview

Posted in Video at 11:55 am by Jon

It’s become traditional to hold a video interview over the breakfast table with the birthday girl. Today, Rosie is two, and here’s what she had to say about it.

“Two, yah.”

“Two, yah.”

If you ask Rosie how old she is today, she’ll probably say, “Two, yah.” (She’s taken to adding an affirmative “yah” at the end of many observations and answers.) Happy birthday, little girl! We love you dearly. more »

Satisfied mind

We’ve got a new camera, and although we’re thankful for the old one that has carried us through Lucy’s whole life and virtually every photo and video ever to appear here at Boyds’ Nest News, we’re delighted with the power of the new Canon EOS T2i. Rosie (here on March 6, 2010) is pleased about something, too. more »

In quiet time

The evening isn’t always a quiet time, but in between making funny faces and hopping on one foot and demanding one more story, we do start to calm down. Lucy with Mama on March 8, 2010. more »

We’re considering showing animated slideshows from Flickr sets of photos here at Boyds’ Nest News. As you can probably guess, just click the play button to start it rolling. What do y’all think: should we do more of this kind of thing? more »

The best possible motive

Several months ago I wrote about moms I want to know — intriguing mothers from a variety of children’s literature. I knew there must be more out there, and I just found another. more »

A “touch” of pneumonia

We’ve all been a little sick with colds this week, but poor Lucy has had it the worst with a persistent cough, which turned out to be something to take more seriously — and with her first-ever round of antibiotics. more »

Days gone by

Days gone by

We’re feeling a little nostalgic, what with a fresh post up about Lucy’s old nap routine and being stuck in a Midwestern midwinter here — so coming across this summertime shot of Lucy struck a chord. It was taken June 18, 2009 (seven months ago today), in the warmth of summer inside the North Park University Gazebo (itself a thing of the past as of this fall). more »

Lucy’s old nap routine

Last summer, I took a few notes on Lucy’s classic nap routine in preparation for writing it up before she gave up her nap for good. I wasn’t quick enough. more »
