The Boyds’ movie picks of 2008
It’s Oscar night, and we don’t imagine we can steal any of the limelight from the red carpet. But we recently flipped through the movies we rented in 2008 — and we humbly offer our list of the best 10 films we watched for the first time last year.

Photo: Lucy has her “eclectic chic” look down pat for her turn on the red carpet.
In no particular order, other than the order we saw them in:
- Helvetica
- Kitchen Stories
- An Inconvenient Truth
- Air Guitar Nation
- Manufactured Landscapes
- Juno
- Superbad
- I’m Not There
- Cars
Honorable mentions to Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, and Singing in the Rain, which we had seen before 2008 but which became three of Lucy’s heavy-rotation favorites last year.

Thanks for the recommendations! I’ve been meaning to see Juno and An Inconvenient Truth for a while, and just haven’t gotten around to it. We’ve been watching a lot more TV shows on DVD than movies. Somehow, finding 2 hours to watch a whole movie has been difficult this year. However, we’ve seen the movie Cars many, many, many times.
