Lucy’s first watercolor
Thanks to super-sitter Allie B., Lucy embraced a new medium tonight: watercolor. Not too shabby!
I particularly like her use of the fingerprint “polka dots” in the upper left. We look forward to many more works like this!

I always had pretty rough walls when my kids were toddlers, so I just stuck their pictures up anywhere. But I always thought it was cute when I saw those kindergarten classrooms with clothesline strung up for pinning the multitude of pictures kids generate. Like Tibetan prayer flag lines. Or like those Mexican paper-cuts outs. There’s something so life-giving about lots of colorful papers hanging about. Way to bring more color to this world, Lu!

it’s beautiful. And I totally agree with Kriss about the Tibetan prayer flags and Mexican paper-cuttings. My whole shabby kitchen is full of my kids artwork and it makes me happy (and does a great job of hiding the cracks, the nail holes, the fingerprints…)

My dear Lucia,
Your artwork is lovely and it confirms at least one thing about your heritage: You did not get your rich artistic talent from me! Hmmmm, as I view the greenery and flowers around our home, I think your Grandma must have had something to do with this talent. Please keep it coming. Know that it will be treasured. I send you my love…

Lucy,
This is a truly inspiring piece of art. It makes me feel hopeful. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
Andy hung a wire on one of our walls. I love it. Kriss, I like your comparisons. In some ways it helps me to see that wire line on our wall as a bit of the sacred in the mundane.
