My dearest Lucia,
The sparkle in your eyes, a sly, hidden attempt to hide your laughter when you respond to one one of my extremely funny stories – hmmm, why doesn’t anyone else respond that way? Seeing this picture of the two of us together makes me very, very happy because you make me very, very happy! (I hasten to add that your Mama and Papa also make me very, very happy!)
Just look at that shirt on this very day because I’ve worn it again while participating in a railroad show out in Rosemont on this very day. How about that! I’ve just arrived home again and what a happy surprise you have given me. Grandma Boyd said ‘go right up and see what Lucy has for you’ and sure enough, it is a gift that will stay with me forever. I send you my love, today and always…
