Waiting and learning

Posted in Babies at 2:15 pm by Ann

To keep myself from going stir-crazy while we wait for labor to begin, I feel that I need to concentrate on a couple of new projects. Here are the ones at the top of the list:

  • working on a photo album from our first five years of marriage
  • cleaning out and organizing the laundry room
  • beginning to knit a sweater for Baby Girl
  • writing a book review every day at this site
  • printing out the lyrics for a few favorite hymns, to use as lullabies and to help me connect with God in the harried first few weeks of parenthood

I also want to remember to be thankful that we are waiting for something joyous. Our past couple of years of miscarriages have been tough with all the fear there has been in waiting and wondering if the pregnancy would “take.” But this is a new kind of waiting — like waiting for a Christmas that will descend upon us without much warning. I’d love to learn to relax and enjoy the present moment, and maybe God is teaching me about that — but the future moments seem like they’ll be so much more exciting!
