Stumped
In honor of Lucy’s one-month birthday today, we’d like to make a confession: We still have her dried-up umbilical-cord stump sitting in a little dish on the changing table.
We just don’t know what to do with it. It doesn’t seem like the sort of thing to toss in the kitchen garbage, but it doesn’t really belong in a scrapbook either. And we didn’t think the winners of the Umbilical-cord-dropoff contest would want it. Any ideas?

Hmmm….I waxed sentimental with Naomi’s for about two weeks and then Andy came up to me with this discusted look on his face after changing a diaper and said “ what is this?” I sheepishly admitted tath I was unsure of what to do with it….and no matter how much I enjoy scrapbooking is was not going there. I threw it away….wince. I threw all the boys away right away…not sure why I kept Naomi’s so long….maybe because if fell off in the middle of the night and there was no one to celebrate with me.
Just don’t eat it!

I don’t think it’s my original idea. Maybe I read about it in Rudolfo Anaya’s Bless Me, Ultima. The umbilical stump seems to have had some kind of properties of magic or divination in that culture. Anyway, hope that helps!
